Real Mummy Interview: Vesna from My Little Jedi

It's been a while since we had this segment on Little Sooti, and since then there has been an extroadinary amount of new creative talent popping up and I just have to share one of the lovely ladies I have met through the blogosphere!! xx

Introducing Vesna, from My Little Jedi.

What is the name of your blog/store?
My little jedi

When did you launch your blog/store?
My little jedi business/blog was launched in March 2010.

How did you choose your name for your blog/store?
The inspiration behind the name comes from my gorgeous 10 month old son Aniken {name which comes from star wars, yeah I know my husband is a huge fan, he is lucky I love the name} and that is how “My little jedi” was born.

What is your current position/career? (where?)
I am very lucky to be a part of the marketing team at Bonds. It’s such a fun & funky place to work for and I love working with so many talented people. I have been on maternity for the last 10 months, however I am due to go back to work in mid August.

What was your inspiration for starting your blog/store?
The online world is such an incredible resource full of eye-candy and inspiration. I started my blog because I wanted to showcase my designs, my inspiration & my thoughts. To sum up my style, a delicate mix of girly & vintage — with just the right amount of a modern, whimsical touch. I often feel overwhelmed by the amount of “pretty” inspiration that is available via fashion & craft blogs, etsy, magazines, really everywhere. My blog is a fabulous outlet for me to collect these ideas and share them with my readers.

What is your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of my job right now is creating handmade designs from the comfort of my own home while I watch my gorgeous little boy Aniken play by my side. As a ‘mum’ I love making things for my little boy and I enjoy creating unique handmade designs in my spare time. Second favourite is the positive feedback i receive from my customers, its very satisfying because I am very focussed on ensuring that customers have a really enjoyable experience when shopping with ‘my little jedi’. To be honest, every sale gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling because it is confirmation that the little idea that popped into my head 4 months ago was a good one! I hope you find as much delight and joy in the world of 'My little Jedi' as I do creating it!

How many hours a day would you say you work on your blog/store?
I am a night owl; I work on my designs and blog after 7pm til late. I always try to balance spending time with my little boy & work. I dedicate 2 hours every couple of days to work on blog posts but probably work on networking and finding inspiration about 1-2 hours a day (after Aniken goes to bed).

What is your favorite part of blogging?
My favourite is the feedback I get from my readers, it’s so rewarding because I really put a lot of time and effort into every post! What I love most about blogging is the amazing people I have ‘met’ who share a passion for the same things that I do. Social networking through Facebook, Twitter, and Skout Trade Fair have also been amazing tools for me to connect with peers and stay updated on the latest happenings in the handmade world. I have been so lucky to have my designs exposed on lovely blogs like Chic Mother & Baby, Handmade Kids & of course the lovely Little Sooti.

What is your goal for your blog/store in the next 12 months.
My goal is to grow my business and still be happy doing what I do. I hope to inspire others in the process, to start their own business. I spend many late nights creating new designs; in the hope that one day I could focus on ‘My little jedi’ on a full time basis and would get to work from home with my little boy by my side. I would eventually like to start becoming more diverse in the pieces I create, and maybe one day open my own boutique, featuring not just my work but other designs as well. My little jedi business has done well in such a short amount of time. I would just like to see it continue to succeed in the years to come.

What are your top 3 online blogs at the moment?
Decor8 is all about fresh decorating ideas, beautiful interior spaces, independent art and design and articles meant to inspire readers to live a more fulfilling, authentic and creative life.
Made by Girl is about interior design, art, food, fashion, clean design, colour and emotion.
Style me Pretty is a style savvy wedding resource devoted to the modern bride. They only feature the most chic and style centric wedding related content, continually discovering new and brilliantly talented vendors, brides with an eye for all things gorgeous.

And some questions for a bit of fun:

What is your favourite movie of all time?
My favourite movie of all time is ‘the notebook’! I’ve seen it over 10 times and makes me cry every time I watch it! I love the unconditional love between Noah and Allie. As they say behind every great love, there is a great story.

Where was the last place you travelled?
I am well overdue for a holiday & I am hoping to go to Europe next summer. However the last place I travelled was a lavish combination of Hamilton Island & Hayman Island. I loved the exclusive realm of luxury, relaxation, indulgent dining, leisurely activity, reef adventure and breathtaking scenery. The Hayman experience begins before you arrive and will linger long after you leave. Pure pleasure!

What’s one thing you want to do but are too afraid to?
Skydiving! It’s something that I have always wanted to do it but I am too much of a chicken to do it! I will probably have a heart attack in the process lol but maybe one day when I get enough courage to do it!
